Misunderstanding 2: Once MBR is used, the effluent quality can be guaranteed.

 

Correct interpretation: The MBR process is essentially a combination of activated sludge method and membrane filtration. It is based on the traditional activated sludge method and replaces the secondary settling tank with membrane filtration.

 

Through this technology, it can bring the advantages of good interception effect and high sludge concentration. But this does not mean that once the MBR process is used, all sewage can be treated.

 

For the removal of pollutants, membrane filtration has a very obvious effect on SS, while the removal of organic matter still depends on the biodegradability of activated sludge and organic matter.

 

For sewage with poor biodegradability, MBR technology has limited effect. For wastewater that has been fully biochemically treated at the front end, the role of MBR technology is also limited.
